In 1958, a Dutch surgeon – Doctor Boerema – developed the hyperbaric oxygen tank. The first system was used in the AMC in Amsterdam. Based on the principles of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a formula by the name of O7 active® became successful in processing stabilised active oxygen in commercial products.
Research over the past 10 years has resulted in the development of a mechanism that ensures a controlled and stable anionic (Safe) release of oxygen atoms from a donor molecule (O-), instead of the release of harmful radical oxygen atoms (O). This technique has been patented.
